From the Chief Commissioner's Desk –
Delhi Customs Zone, a field formation under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, is committed to unrelenting support and facilitation to all stakeholders in line with Government’s agenda to promote ease of doing business. We strive to realize the revenue in fair and transparent manner in accordance with the applicable tariff and trade policies. As part of our action plan, we endeavour to help members of trade to enhance their cost competitiveness, encourage voluntary compliance and build mutual trust on one hand and take measures to combat duty evasion, commercial frauds and smuggling activities on the other hand.
The primary functions pertaining to collection of customs duties, prevention of smuggling & tax frauds and enforcement of border control measures are being implemented in the zone as part of Government’s overall policy directions of enhanced trade facilitation through use of modern risk based management systems and non-intrusive examination techniques. Deferred Duty payment, 24*7 clearance, reduction of dwell time of cargo by measures such as Single Window Interface for Facilitating Trade (SWIFT), simplifying export procedures, Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) scheme, Advance filing of bills of entry, reduced documentation and online filing of documents through e-Sanchit and other modern business practices serve as a means to facilitate expeditious clearance of import and export goods. Similarly, for facilitating and regulating Customs clearance of passengers and baggage at the Arrival and Departure terminals of IGI Airport, Delhi, we are increasingly using risk based passenger profiling complemented with use of social media platforms for creating awareness about eligibility and entitlements of international passengers.
We seek to conform to high standards of service delivery by nurturing professionalism and promoting greater sense of responsibility in daily work environment. It is our constant effort to carry out the assigned tasks with integrity, transparency and objectivity in a free and fair manner. As a part of overall responsibility towards nation building by safeguarding the physical and economic frontiers of our country, our committed and dedicated team of officers is ever-willing to find solutions to issues confronting the trade while performing statutory roles of tax collection and enforcement of other allied laws.
Any suggestions for further improving our working eco-systems are always welcome. You may also bring to our notice any difficulty or grievances though e-mail or by visiting any of our offices.
